Many Muslims around the world seem keen to adopt alien thoughts and ideas, while being unaware of the greatness of their own religion. However, it is time we turned back towards The Quran for guidance. Should we not try to emulate the Seerah and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), rather than the habits and actions of celebrities?
In this age of supposed progress and development, Muslims are being forced to follow the rat race in all spheres of life, from the way we think down to the way we dress. This Ummah has been forced to limit our Deen to just spiritual aspects.

The Sad State of The Ummah
Today, Some Muslims have developed an inferior mentality that we have to adhere to materialism and please others.
There have always been a good number of people in the world who have been wanting Muslims to give up Islam, or modify Islam to suit their objectives.
Sadly, several contemporary Muslims now agree with their own enemies. Many Muslims favour mob rule as the chosen form of government, and have given up on Shariah!
Many Muslims nowadays conform to worldly dogmas, traditions and practices based on sheer ignorance.
Similarly, we seem to have forgotten our own history — how we liberated Rome, Persia, Constantinople; how great we were in ash-Sham, Iraq, al-Andalus and the rest of the world. We have developed an inferior mindset that we are subservient to others and have to please our ‘superiors’ for the greater good.
Even worse, majority of present-day Muslims are happy to uphold the ties of nationalism. We love each other on the basis of our nationalities and fake borders. Sadly, we seem to have forgotten that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, as narrated by Abu Dawud:
He is not one of us who calls for Asabiyyah (tribalism/nationalism), fights for Asabiyyah or who dies for Asabiyyah.
A large section of this Ummah is now trying to enjoin what other fellow humans enjoin, and forbid what others forbid. Many of us no longer follow the original criterion of using The Quran for guidance.

Have we forgotten that, as Muslims, we are not meant to chase the Dunya? Our work is for the Herafter. This world is only a temporary prison for believers; our actions in this life will help us do well in the next. After all, Allah will not judge us on the basis of our tall our skyscrapers were!
In times like these, we must stand firm and hold on to Rope of Allah. We must not compromise! Today, we urgently need to go back to the Quran, and the Seerah and Sunnah. In other words, we must return to the fundamentals of our Deen, and cling to it at all costs. We need to keep our desires and sentiments in check, and follow the Commandments of Allah.
Lastly, we must always remember that Islam is not just a religion. Islam is a way of life, and we must lead our lives as per the tenets of Islam.
May Allah rectify the affairs of this Ummah, forgive our sins, free those who are unjustly imprisoned, strengthen those who are fighting for righteousness, increase us in knowledge, and make us all better humans. Ameen!
