10 Ways To Enhance And Increase Your Faith

Faith is dynamic. It cannot stay in one state, and has to be frequently recharged and maintained through regular prayers, recitations and understanding of the Holy Quran. Plus, we should always strive to avoid wrong and sinful deeds.

So, what are some of the ways to increase your faith? This article provides 10 useful ways to increase your faith or Iman.

10 Ways To Enhance And Increase Your Faith

1. Regularity in Prayer

We should never miss the precious gift of Salah. In fact, Salah is better than sleep. In the present era, our routine sleep patterns have been corrupted, robbing us of the advantages of offering Fajr prayer on time. Regularity in Salah will definitely improve our faith.

2. Daily Quran Recitation

Quran is Allah’s Greatest Blessing to mankind. It is the source of Guidance that will bring success in both the worlds. Hz Abu Umamah (RA) reported: [1]

I heard the Messenger of Allah saying: “Read the Quran, for it will come as an intercessor for its reciters on the Day of Judgement.”

Memorizing the verses of the Quran is highly rewarding. It uplifts one to a better status, removes all uneasiness, and fills one’s heart with peace and tranquility.

3. Love for Knowledge

Seeking knowledge is obligatory for Muslims. The quest for learning new things is always fruitful. Receiving inspiration from sources of knowledge, as well as attending useful lectures and meaningful talks, can be helpful in this endeavour.

4. Taking Care of Body, Mind and Soul

It is our duty as Muslims to inculcate healthy habits and keep our mind, body and soul clean of all negativity and evil thoughts. Fear of Allah can help us guard ourselves against the traps of Shaytan. Allah is All-Seeing and All-Hearing. He knows all that we conceal and all that we reveal. So, next time when conflicting thoughts surround you, seek Refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan.

5. Repentance for Past Mistakes

Allah is the Great Forgiver. We all are imperfect beings who often falter and make mistakes. However, our imperfection should not prevent us from seeking Allah’s mercy. In fact, sincere repentance takes us closer to Him.

6. Follow the Sunnah

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) showed us the ideal pathway to Jannah and how to attain true success in both the worlds. Therefore, we must strive to learn from the Seerah, Sunnah and Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

7. Avoid Bad Company

It is a well-known fact that a man is known by the company he keeps. It is advisable to be alone than in bad company; and being in good company is considered better than being alone.

8. Guard Your Time

Time is a precious commodity. Unlike everything else, lost time can never be purchased back. We have a limited time on this earth. Spending it in doing constructive work is a thousand times better than wasting it in scrolling over various social media sites and killing the precious seconds that are allotted to us.

9. Be True to Your Words and Actions

This is a noble trait and we, as practising Muslims, must be very sincere in terms of our speech. Honesty and truth will guard our Iman and make our firm believers.

10. Practise Generosity

Allah loves charitable deeds. However, charity is not simply giving alms to poor. It also refers to the way we treat those who may be subordinate to us in terms of worldly status, wealth, power, etc. and also the way we treat any human being or simply, any living being. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was an emblem of perfection, generosity and kindness.

Every day, a small act of kindness can increase your faith and help you closer to Allah.
