5 Steps You Can Take To Protect The Environment

Each of us can join in the preservation of this planet – and it is not as difficult as it seems at first glance. You don’t have to volunteer to the ends of the earth to help to save the planet. We love distant countries, support agrotourism, respect the work of volunteers, but do not forget how much we can do to protect the environment without leaving our own home, city, country. Environmental protection has become an important topic of discussion in recent years. The reason for this is the general deterioration of the environment and numerous threats from nature.

How to preserve nature and ecology? Here are some practical tips that will help us make the lives of our children and grandchildren a little better.

1. Don’t use plastic bags

According to the UN, approximately 5 trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide every year, or about 10 million every minute. Now about 60 countries around the world have started to fight plastic at the legislative level. And the main object of this struggle was plastic bags. But the fight against plastic bags can be started independently, simply by reducing their consumption. For example, in a store, you can use reusable bags instead. This will not only reduce the amount of polyethylene you consume, but also help you save money.

2. Replace all light bulbs with energy-saving ones

This simple step will save resources generated by power plants. They serve longer and consume less energy than conventional ones. In the future, this will help you spend less time working and completely replace them with a renewable version of electricity.

3. Learn how to use online banking

Paying bills online will not only save your time, but also save the tree. And if instead of paper receipts, statements, and printouts, you use electronic ones, the number of trees saved will be in the thousands.

4. Do not throw away used batteries

Batteries contain various metals, including mercury, lead, cadmium, nickel, copper, zinc, magnesium, and lithium. If we throw them out together with simple garbage, it all ends up in the soil. One battery pollutes 20 m2 of land. Put a trash can for batteries at home, and when it is full, take them to specially designated places.

5. Support a local manufacturer

Products from the supermarket have come a long way to get closer to you. To reduce the carbon footprint of all trucks, ships, and planes that deliver goods to your store, buy more local products. And you can help the local farmers as well.

The world is beautiful and verdant, and verily God, be He exalted, has made you His stewards in it, and He sees how you acquit yourselves.

Sahih Muslim (Book 49, Hadith 12)
